The Herington Museum was chartered in 1975 and moved into the present museum building in 1984. In 1987, the museum expanded its collection of Railroad memorabilia into an adjacent Rock Island Baggage Car. The Herington Historical Society & Museum seeks to preserve and display history pertaining to M.D. Herington (the town’s founder), its people, businesses, churches and recreation. Today, the museum houses thousands of historical artifacts and research materials relating to Herington and the surrounding community. We hope that you will visit us soon!!
